Joining Round Table

What is Round Table?

We are a group of men aged between 18 and 45. Round Table is a great way to connect with new friends and expand your social life while giving something back to your local community.

Round Table is life changing. To its members, it gives friends for life. We raise money for local good causes and we have fun doing it.  We run local events like the fireworks night, the ale festival (now the Beer & Gin Festival) and the santa dash. You could learn new skills organising charity or social events - most members go on to run at least one of these events at one point!  In the last year, we raised and gave away over £20,000 to local good causes.  We also had a full calendar of meetups and social events.

How much time do I need to give?

We usually meet up twice a month except in the summer, on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month.  In the summer we take a break except for our annual BBQ and our traditional grudge match Petanque against the old ex-tablers.

Each month we alternate between fun events, our "programme" events, and our business meetings where we take care of the admin over dinner and drinks! In the last couple of years we've been kayaking on Loch Lomond, on several local brewery tours, bowling, beer tasting, whisky tasting (yes, there is a theme here), at the Escape Rooms, the comedy club and many others.

You don't have to attend every meeting or event, so don't worry if you've got a work schedule or family balancing act that makes that difficult - we all do! The level effort depends on what role you take each year and how involved you get in the fundraising activities.

Does it cost anything?

Round Table has an annual capitation fee to be part of the national Round Table organisation. Each member also pays in monthly to cover their own expenses for social events and meetings.  We split the costs of events between participants.

How do I join?

To join a prospective member must attend 3 events, meetings or social, before being proposed for membership by an existing member, and then approved by majority vote.  We're keen to expand the group and bring new members in, so if you think this could be for you why not get in touch!
